Mrs. Odessa Johnson, Vice Chair - Community Representative

The lady in the shoe, she had so many children she didn’t know what to do. This is not the case with Odessa Johnson our Vice Chairperson. She is a mother of fifteen children and has an extraordinary history of employment and service in our community as well as State and National contributions.

Some of her previous employment experiences are: Community Resource Specialist, Ceda Program; Northern Council of Government (NCOG), she taught in Holbrook, Arizona at the Navajo Handicap School; a Past President of the American Legion Post 65 Auxiliary in Phoenix, Arizona; Past President and initiated office for NAACP local in Holbrook, Arizona; Past Loyal Director Ruler; Past State President. 1 st Lt. Antler Guaul and Financial Secretary for the Shirner at Grand Canyon Temple #347 Phoenix, Arizona; 1982 Graduate of Northern Pioneer College - Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood techn.

Ms. Johnson was a member of the Governor’s Monitoring Team when Governor Raul Castro was in office and has been recognized by the Wall of Tolerance from Rosie Parks before Mrs. Parks’ death. Additionally, she was honored by the Southern Poverty Law Center JM on Wall of Tolerance. This recognition was an honor to her advocacy for tolerance, justice and fairness.

Mrs. Odessa Johnson is a resident member of our Board of Directors.
